Getting here

Heading South

From Florence, head south on the A1 autostrada towards Rome. Take the exit for Valdarno (the second after Firenze Sud), turn right immediately after the toll booth and follow directions to Montevarchi and Bucine. Continue past Bucine then drive through the villages of Capannole, Ambra and Pietraviva. A few kilometres past Pietraviva, turn right to Montebenichi. Approximate travel time is 1 hour by car.

Alternatively, from Florence, exit at Firenze Certosa and take the highway Firenze-Siena towards Siena. Follow this road that borders the city of Siena and follow the signs to Arezzo and Perugia. After 20 kilometres past Siena, take the exit called “Colonna del Grillo” and drive 1 kilometre to turn left at Il Bivacco restaurant. Follow the signs in the direction of Bucine, turning left at the sign to Montebenichi after approximately 10 kilometres, immediately after Trattoria Le Leccarda. Approximate travel time is 1.5 hours by car.

Heading North

From Rome, drive north on the A1 autostrada towards Florence, taking the exit for Valdichiana. At the roundabout after the toll booth, take the first road on the right and follow signs to Siena-Foiano Della Chiana-Perugia. Immediately after, turn right to Siena then after 25 kilometres turn right at the Colonna Del Grillo exit. Drive 1 kilometre then turn left at Il Bivacco restaurant. Follow the signs towards Bucine, turning left at the sign to Montebenichi after approximately 10 kilometres, immediately after Trattoria Le Leccarda. Approximate travel time is 2.5 hours by car.

Alternatively, from Rome Termini, board a train to Montevarchi-Terranuova. From there, rent a car and drive to Montebenichi, approximately a 45 minute drive.
